Solar Hydrogen kit allows you to create clean energy using fuel-cell and renewable hydrogen created using sun and water.
An educational device ideal for schools, it could be used in science labs or directly in class.
The kit contains a solar cell kit, a reversible PEM fuel-cell and hydrogen and oxygen tanks: you need just distilled water to start your kit and to produce hydrogen and electrical energy.
Solar Hydrogen Kit’s use is very easy. Linking the solar panel to the fuel-cell, the fuel-cell can work as an electrolyzer separating water molecule in hydrogen through the electrolysis. Hydrogen and oxygen are stored in 2 transparent tanks. Then the fuel-cell can transform hydrogen chemical energy in electrical energy thanks to a very easy and reliable chemical process, reverse electrolysis in which hydrogen bind oneself with oxygen.
The reactions which happen inside of the fuel-cell are redoxes:
electrolysis mode (electrolyzer):
- anodic reaction (oxidation): H2O > ½ O2 + 2
H+ + 2 e-
- catodic
reaction (reduction): 2 H+ + 2 e- > H2
Reverse electrolysis mode (fuel-cell):
- anodic reaction: H2 > 2 H+ +e-
- catodic reaction: ½ O2 + 2 H+ + 2 e- > H2O
Electrical Energy produced by the fuel-cell moves a little blade when the cables of the motor are linked to the fuel-cell. Hydrogen and oxygen stored are so used.
