Hydrogen powered vessel developed by the Polytechnic University of Timisoara

A team of teachers and students from the Universitatea Politehnica Timisoara (UPT) in Romania has launched the first boat powered by hydrogen-based energy on Bega. The boat, a revolutionary design for eco-friendly transportation, was built entirely with its own funds, using a 1 kW electric motor powered by a hydrogen fuel cell.

The system is completely non-polluting, with water as the only residue while hydrogen storage has been achieved at reduced pressure, using metal hydrides to minimize risks, thus strengthening an innovative, safe and environmentally friendly transport model.

After successfully developing the hydrogen-powered bicycle, and subsequently creating a car powered by a similar system, the group of teachers and students from the Polytechnic University of Timisoara managed to reach a new level.

A crew from the Timis Emergency Situations Inspectorate also participated in the launch, supporting the UPT in ensuring safety conditions and relevant regulations...
